Question 1

What is ShipDuel?

Accepted Answer

A head-to-head ranking of shipped products. Two products from the same category are shown side by side and you pick the one you'd ship. The winner of the most duels that day becomes Product of the Day.

Question 2

Why do products only fight inside a category?

Accepted Answer

Because an AI tool against a marketing tool measures which category you prefer, not which product is better. Every matchup is drawn from a single category, so the result means something.

Question 3

How does the ranking work?

Accepted Answer

The daily board scores duels won minus duels lost and resets at midnight UTC, so new products can actually win. All-time strength is an Elo rating: beating a strong product moves you far more than beating a weak one.

Question 4

What is a duel page?

Accepted Answer

Every matchup keeps a permanent page, like shipduel.com/duel/notion-vs-obsidian, showing the running head-to-head tally and the discussion under it.

Question 5

Do I need an account?

Accepted Answer

Not to vote and not to submit — those only need your browser. An account (X, GitHub or Google) is for commenting, posting in the forum and having a profile.

Question 6

How do I get my product listed?

Accepted Answer

Submitting is free: a URL, a name, a category and a pitch of about eight words. Your product enters the arena once you have judged ten duels yourself, then gets its first fifty fights guaranteed. You can also add one by pull request on the repository.

Question 7

Can I vote for my own product?

Accepted Answer

No. Your browser and your account are both blocked from judging any duel your own product is in, and everyone gets exactly one verdict per matchup.

Question 8

What does it cost?

Accepted Answer

Nothing. There are no paid votes and no paid ranks.
